August was a busy month for the Greater Williamsburg Business Council.
We launched our brand new website, which features our COVID-19 Recovery Center and an interactive Community Calendar.
We also partnered with the Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association, the City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County to offer a free printable “Masks Required” sign to support our local businesses.
As we press forward through the COVID-19 pandemic, health has been a top priority.
We have recently partnered with William & Mary to support the Healthy Together Community Commitment, which sets the standard for living, learning, and working on campus and in the community. We encourage everyone to make the commitment with us!
The Business Council’s Health Committee selected Master Police Officer Ben Woodhouse as the recipient of the 2020 Health Promoter of the Year Award. Officer Woodhouse has dedicated his law enforcement career to raising awareness for marginalized and overlooked individuals in our community.
Notably, he spearheaded the James City County Police Department Autism Awareness Project, which uses stickers to alert public safety personnel that they may need to communicate differently with an individual during an emergency situation.
Looking ahead to September, we are excited to collect nominations for the annual 15 Under 50 Award, which recognizes 15 local leaders under the age of 50.

Carrabba’s is located at 2500 Richmond Road, and they are open for in-person dining with limited capacity and hours. You can also place an order online using their website. Give them a call to learn more about a Business Council promotion on catering through the end of September.
