VIRGINIA BEACH — Storytelling in the digital realm is the specialty of cinematography firm Ironclad, and the company is expanding.

Ironclad is moving from its current location 25th Street to a new space on Bells Road where it will occupy 4,500 square feet of warehouse space, according to a news release from the city.

“From day one, Ironclad has been focused on creating a global presence,” said Jeremy Carey, Ironclad’s founder and owner. “To this day, the greatest feeling is arriving home to the city that we love, Virginia Beach. We will always be a global company, but Virginia Beach will forever be our home, and to have its support is something we don’t take for granted.”

The Virginia Beach Development Authority awarded an Economic Development Investment Program Grant of $19,500 to the boutique agency in support of job creation and capital investment. Ironclad received the EDIP award based on a total expected capital investment of $1,094,000 and adding three full-time jobs with an average salary of $66,700, city officials said.

“Jeremy and his team travel the world telling stories, and their business cards say Virginia Beach. That’s a proud reflection of our city,” said Raymond White, business development manager for VBDA. “Clearly, Ironclad has established itself as go-to storytellers for a wide range of clients, from those with a worldwide footprint to those whose impact is more localized. Investing in its continued growth and development here is at the heart of the grants program.”

Ironclad opened its doors in 2010 and since then has steadily built a business that counts some major national brands, according to the news release. Among their clients are Under Armour, Reebok, Navy SEAL Foundation, and Lowe’s.

Construction of Ironclad’s new studio space is expected to be completed by April 2019.
