Biking enthusiasts can plan a new stop when biking the Virginia Capital Trail.

Spoke & Art Provisions Co. has opened on John Tyler Highway, according to a press release from James City County.

The shop sits along the Virginia Capital Trail at 3449 John Tyler Highway at the intersection with Greensprings Road. Spoke & Art currently offers guests trail-themed items and artwork such as coffee mugs, books, wall art and more.

Owner Steve Rose also said the shop will sell “provision for the trail,” such as granola bars, drinks and ice cream. The store will expand by the spring to offer a coffee station, juice bar and lunch counter offering a menu of salads, wraps and paninis.

Spoke & Art will also begin offering bike rentals in the spring.

Rose co-owns the store with Jennifer Raines. The pair also the founded Culture Fix, which aims to “promote and enhance the cultural energy and vitality” of the community, according to its website.

Spoke & Art’s current hours are 12 to 4 p.m. and is currently undergoing renovations. Its hours of operation will likely expand as renovation is completed, Rose said.

“We were looking for potential properties on the trail and this one is in a really good location,” Rose said. “We’re hoping this will become a community space for the local neighborhoods.”
