HAMPTON — More than 20 breweries from around Hampton Roads and beyond will be serving the darkest beers they can brew as part of the Dark Night Winter Beer Festival, hosted by St. George Brewing Company in Hampton on March 12.
The beers that will be entered into the competition can be of any style, just as long as it is dark in color. The beers can win awards in several different categories including: best head, best body, people’s choice and best in show.
For one category in particular, St. George is pulling out all the stops. Researchers from Christopher Newport University will use a spectrophotometer to determine how much light is able to pass through a sample of the beer.
Some of the breweries that will be at the festival include, Billsburg Brewing, Virginia Beer Company and Gloucester Brewing Company.
The festival starts at noon and will be held inside the St. George Brewery facility.
This is a ticketed event. Attendees will get unlimited samples of all of the beers and festival glassware. To get tickets to this event, click here.
