Storytime in the sunshine: York County Public Libraries brings tales to the outdoors

YORKTOWN — York County Public Library is bringing story time to the great outdoors.

Throughout the end of April and into the beginning of May, children will have several opportunities to experience storytelling in the great outdoors. Library staff will choose a story for each 15 minute session and read aloud to a small group of kids and their caregivers.

Starting April 22 at 11 a.m., parents or caregivers can bring their children to Charles E. Brown Park for these storytimes.

Here are the story time dates for Charles E. Brown Park:

Wednesdays at 1 pm
April 28
May 12
May 26

Thursdays at 11 am
April 22
May 6
May 20

The York County Public Libraries are also having story time for toddlers and preschoolers located right outside of the libraries on the following dates

Tabb Library 

Toddler Tales
Ages: 17-30 months
Tuesdays April 20-May 25
10:30-10:45 OR 11:00 – 11:15

Preschool Story Time
Ages: 2.5-5
Wednesdays April 21 – May 26
10:30-10:45 OR 11:00 – 11:15

Yorktown Library 

Preschool Story Time
Ages: 2.5-5
Tuesdays April 20-May 25
10:30-10:45 OR 11:00 – 11:15

Toddler Tales
Ages: 17-30 months
Wednesdays April 21-May 26
10:30-10:45 OR 11:00 – 11:15

Weekly registration is required for all story times. To register, visit the York County Library calendar and click on the date you wish to attend. 

Registration for the week of April 20 will begin April 14. Following the April 20 event, registration for the following weeks will open the day after the most recent story time session.

Attendance will be limited to nine children accompanied by a parent/caregiver. Adults must wear masks.

Adults are encouraged to provide their own seating. All programs are contingent upon weather conditions.

Tabb Library is located at 100 Long Green Blvd and Yorktown Library is located at 8500 George Washington Memorial Hwy. Those who have questions about the story time events can contact the York County Public Libraries at 757-890-5100.
