JCC to open cooling centers Wednesday to battle heat

With a heat advisory in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday in Greater Williamsburg, James City County will open cooling shelters to help residents and visitors cool off.

The shelters will be at the James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Road; the Human Services Center, 5249 Olde Towne Road; the Williamsburg Library, 515 Scotland St.; and the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Road.

The centers and libraries provide air conditioning and a place to sit  for those in need.

The Human Resources Center is open until 5 p.m. Wednesday, while the recreation center and libraries are open until 9 p.m.

With the exception of service animals, no pets are allowed in the centers.
