For the second-straight week, William & Mary sophomore Nathan Knight was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Knight led the Tribe to a 3-0 week by posting three double-doubles, averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds in the trio of road victories.
Knight joins Hofstra’s Justin Wright-Foreman as the only multiple-time winners of the league’s weekly award. The Tribe’s four player of the week honors lead the CAA. Seniors David Cohn (Nov. 27) and Connor Burchfield (Dec. 4) also received the weekly accolade this season.
Knight started the week with a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double in the Tribe’s 84-76 win at James Madison on Jan. 2. He followed with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-11 shooting and 11 rebounds in a 90-65 triumph at Delaware on Jan. 5. Knight closed out the week with 19 points and 13 rebounds in an 85-63 victory at Drexel on Sunday. He finished the week shooting 63.9 percent (23-of-36) from the floor, 50 percent (2-of-4) from 3-point range and 80 percent (12-of-15) from the charity stripe.
Knight has tallied a double-double in each of the first four CAA games this season, leading the Tribe to equal its best CAA start in school history at 4-0. In league action, he is averaging 22.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game, which ranks second and third in the CAA. Overall, Knight ranks third in the conference in scoring (19.8), sixth in rebounding (8.5) and second in blocked shots (2.7).
The Tribe returns to Williamsburg to open a three-game homestand, beginning on Thursday, Jan. 11, against in-state rival James Madison. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., from Kaplan Arena.
The game will be broadcast online at Tribe Athletics TV via Stretch Internet.
