W&M generator fire causes power outages Monday

Update 10:10 a.m.:

A generator fire near Fauquier Hall was under control by 10 a.m. Monday, according to a William & Mary alert.

Power to the Botetourt Complex will be out for the rest of the day, the alert said.

Power to the rest of campus will be restored within two hours.

William & Mary students affected at Botetourt Complex will be given information by Residence Life, the alert said.

Emergency personnel are working on the scene of a generator fire at the College of William & Mary, according to a campus emergency alert.

Emergency crews were called to the generator outside of Fauquier Hall, located at 100 Wake Drive, Monday morning after it caught fire, the alert said.

Power glitches and outages are expected throughout campus.

The alert warned people to stay out of the area.
