A North Carolina woman who was struck by a car as she walked on Bypass Road in York County Monday night has died as a result of her injuries, police say.

Wanda Cranford Fields, 73, of Reidsville, N.C., “walked into the path” of a 2016 Ford Fiesta on Bypass Road, east of Commons Way, around 6:22 p.m. Monday, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

Fields was taken to the Virgina Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, where she died of her injuries on Tuesday, Anaya said.

The driver of the Fiesta was not injured, and no charges are pending against them at this time, according to Anaya.
