A fallen tree and a car accident has snarled traffic on Interstate 64 westbound near exit 234 in James City County, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation Twitter feed.
At least one car was involved in the Tuesday afternoon accident, VDOT spokeswoman Brittany McBride said.
The right lane is blocked, but cars are moving around the accident in the left lane, McBride said.
There is a two-mile backup, according to a VDOT tweet at 2:56 p.m.
Virginia State Police and fire-rescue crews are on scene, McBride said.
A Virginia State Police spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
