NORFOLK — Calling all wildlife photographers! The Virginia Zoological Park is looking to harness your creative energy for its 2018 calendar.

Beginning Aug. 1, the zoo will take submissions for its “Second Annual Calendar Photo Contest.” The zoo’s staff will choose 12 pictures for the calendar, judging them by creativity, quality and originality, according to a news release.

The winner will have their photo featured on the front page of the calendar and get the chance to meet one of the zoo’s mega-vertebrates – although the zoo hasn’t revealed which one!

“Each zoo visitor has their own unique experience as they travel through the zoo, and we encourage them to capture these moments with their cameras,” Greg Bockheim, the zoo’s executive director, wrote in the release.

The contest ends on Sept. 30. To apply, click here and submit up to eight digital photos.
