A 52-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a female companion while the two stayed in an recreational vehicle at the Naval Weapons Station in York County.
Peter De Brie was taken into custody last Friday after police found him at the KOA camp compound in Virginia Beach, according Lt. Dennis Ivey, spokesman for the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with one count of rape.
The female victim, a 44-year-old associate of De Brie, was treated at the scene, Ivey said.
On April 19, police responded to call from the Naval Weapons Station Cheatham Annex RV campground for an initial call about a verbal dispute.
Upon arrival at 1 p.m., police took the victim to the Naval Security House because she smelled strongly of alcohol. She told police that De Brie made her drink alcohol then he allegedly raped her, Ivey said. De Brie was questioned initially by police at the RV campground.
During a two-day investigation, police obtained warrants for his arrest and filed an emergency protection order.
According to a clerk at the Cheatham Annex, only persons with valid military I.D., government workers with the U.S. Department of Defense or military contractors are allowed on the compound.
