Police: Man and woman wielding knife attack delivery man during early morning robbery

Williamsburg Police are investigating an early Thursday morning robbery in which a man and a woman attacked a pizza delivery man at an Americas’ Inn on Richmond Road, according to a statement released by police.

The victim was cut during a struggle with Rodney O’Bryan Bartlett, 46 of York County, who is charged with robbery, grand larceny, according to a statement released by Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department.

Medics treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries and later transported him to the hospital.

Police believe the second suspect involved was Laurie Leigh Thorn, 44 of James City County. She is charged with robbery and possession of cocaine.

According to the police report, the incident happened shortly before 1 a.m., while the victim was making a pizza delivery. When he arrived, he was approached by a 30 to 40-year-old, 5’10 to 6’ tall male with dark clothing, police said.

Bartlett allegedly displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s money. There was a brief struggle between he and the victim, which resulted in the victim getting cut, police said.

Bartlett allegedly fled the area in an unknown direction with the victim’s phone.

Following an investigation that evening, police were able to identify the man and his accomplice, who were both arrested Thursday at 11:30 p.m, according to Riley’s statement.

Bartlett is charged with robbery, grand larceny as well as, abduction, and maiming. Both Bartlett and Thorn were transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

Both are schedule to appear in Williamsburg-James City County General District Court, with  Bartlett appearing on April 4 and Thorn appearing on May 5.
