Firefighters responded to an evening blaze at York Crossing Townhouse complex, fire officials said Thursday.
No one was injured in the fire that happened Thursday shortly after 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Souverain Landing in York’s Grafton section, according to a release from Fire Chief Stephen P. Kopczynski, York County Fire Department and Life Safety.
York County first responders along with mutual aid from Newport News Fire arrived on the scene at 8:15 p.m. and saw fire conditions emitting from the roof area.
Fire and rescue crews ensured all occupants were safely evacuated from the building and then initiated the fire attack, according to the release.
Fire was contained to the primary townhouse unit. Some adjacent units still had smoky conditions.
The fire was quickly extinguished and remains out.
Units currently remain on the scene conducting salvage and overhaul.
Investigation of the specific origin and cause is underway at this time.
