VIRGINIA BEACH — Police are investigating after a 26-year-old woman blacked out after drinking a margarita at a local restaurant.
Police say on Jan. 28 the woman was drinking a margarita at Jose Tequila’s Mexican Grill and Cantina, located at 2101 McComas Way, when she stepped outside to meet a friend, according to a February search warrant filed in Virginia Beach Circuit Court.
The woman left her drink unattended for about 15 minutes before she came back and drank half of it.
At some point, the woman began to slur her words and drop items. She told police she wasn’t able to remember any events from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., court documents state.
The woman was taken to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital where her blood was drawn. Medics found no alcohol in her system.
The search warrant stated that the attending police officer thinks the drink was altered when she left it unattended.
