Puppy attacks person near Colonial Williamsburg, authorities seek dog

An 11-week-old Golden Retriever bit a person near the historic area of Colonial Williamsburg Feb. 12, according to a Peninsula Health District news release.

The release said if the dog is not located the victim may need treatment for the post-exposure prevention of rabies.

Once the dog is located the animal will be confined to its owner’s home for ten days, according to the release.

Those who have seen an animal resembling an 11-week-old Golden Retriever are asked to contact the Williamsburg Environmental Health Office at 757-603-4277 or Williamsburg-James City County Animal Control at 757-253-1800.
