Photos: William & Mary students lobby legislators in Richmond

Gov. McAuliffe asked the 34 William & Mary students what they wanted to see the General Assembly take action on this session. Students told him they do not want to see the state interfere in the ratio of in-state/out-of-state students which is currently at about 35 percent out-of-state students, they want the state to maintain funding as much as possible, and students want to see the expansion of need-based financial aid. Students from the College of William & Mary made the trek to Richmond on Tuesday to lobby state legislators on issues that matter to them.

They went to the capital to lobby for more need-based financial support. They met Gov. Terry McAuliffe and his dog. They urged legislators to maintain funding for institutions of higher education. And they registered concerns about possible legislative action that might affect how many students the college accepts from out-of-state.

Here are some scenes from the day, captured by WYDaily’s Steve Roberts, Jr.
