She was a devoted Navy wife, who was passionate with her volunteer work with the Hurrah Players and an attentive grandmother to her granddaughters, Isis and Echo, who captured her heart and never left.

All who knew Benita will remember her for her kindness to others and unselfish ways even during times of her own poor health.

She is survived by her best friend and devoted husband, Claude V. Sneed; loving son, Frankie; granddaughters, Isis and Echo; mother, Frances Roughton; sister, Lola Hilton; brothers, Sidney and Bennie Roughton; and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Salem United Methodist Church, 2057 Salem Road, Virginia Beach.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to your favorite charity in Benita’s name.
