A stretch of Monticello Avenue between Centerville Road and John Tyler Highway reopened to traffic Wednesday after emergency roadwork started Dec. 12, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation news release.
The road had been slated to reopen on Friday, Dec. 23.
The Virginia Department of Transportation has indicated they will provide an update on why the roadwork was necessary, but it was not immediately available Wednesday evening.
VDOT had previously indicated the repaired roadway, which passes directly above a golf-cart tunnel for the nearby Williamsburg National Golf Club, had unconfirmed settling problems.
