One dead after head-on crash in York County

A two-vehicle accident in York County left one woman dead Tuesday evening, according to the Virginia State Police.
A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling east on Goodwin Neck Road around 5:27 p.m. when the driver, Tammy Beaumont, 54, of Seaford, attempted to pass a bicyclist, Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.
While attempting the pass, the truck drove into the westbound lanes and stuck a 2011 Chevrolet Express van head-on, Anaya said.
Beaumont was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, in Newport News, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver was left with injuries not considered life-threatening, Anaya said.
State Police are not considering alcohol as a factor in the crash, and family members have been notified, Anaya said.
