Virginia Beach-based leasing company Wheeler announced the elimination of its chief operating officer position, currently filled by Steven Belote. The role will cease July 31, and the duties will be dispersed throughout the company. Removing the position will cut expenses, which are estimated at $4.5 million for the second half of 2016 after the move, according to a release.

“We’ve identified ways to be more efficient and still continue to provide the same services,” said Laura Ngyuen, director of capital markets for Wheeler.

Fetch!, a Virginia Beach-based auto insurance quote provider, is partnering with a car dealer management and marketing group, ComSoft. Fetch’s online insurance quote system will be integrated into ComSoft’s software to benefit dealers as well as customers.

Fetch’s system eliminates the need to enter the consumer’s information to get more than one quote. The company has partnerships with three other dealer management service groups.

“If customers can save money by choosing from some of the most affordable insurance quotes, this translates into greater purchasing power when it comes to the automobile purchase,” ComSoft President Chip Cooper said in a release.

BAE Systems announced its Norfolk shipyard will be completing a $29.4 million maintenance project for the U.S. Navy on the USS Gettysburg, a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser. The Norfolk shipyard will perform the maintenance and modernization work on the nearly 600-foot ship, which was commissioned in 1991, according to a release.

The project will begin next month and be completed in December, the release said.

“This maintenance availability will prepare the Gettysburg for more extensive modernization later,” said Dave Thomas, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems’ Norfolk shipyard, in the release.
