First Colonial (11-0, 2-0 Coastal): Another week, another dismantling of opponents. The Patriots’ 6.8 goals-per-game average is nearly double that of any other Beach team (Ocean Lakes is next at 3.8), and their plus-69 (75-6) scoring margin is daunting. Their schedule tightens with upcoming games against solid defensive teams Kellam and Cox, and a clash with the Dolphins a week away.

Ocean Lakes (12-0-1, 2-0-1 Coastal): The Dolphins own a Beach-best eight shutout wins and have allowed just five goals in 13 games, a stat that is all the more remarkable considering the talent they’ve faced. Ocean Lakes has shown to be methodical (six wins by two or fewer goals) and explosive (three wins by 6+ goals) in a breakout start. They’re three games away from the ultimate test against First Colonial.

Cox (8-3, 1-1 Coastal): Young, talented and resilient, the Falcons bounced back with a gutsy 1-0 win against Landstown on Wednesday, days after giving the Dolphins arguably their toughest game in a 1-0 loss. The Coastal Conference’s No. 3 seed is up for grabs, and Cox gets a crack at First Colonial’s unbeaten mark next week.

Landstown (7-2-2, 0-1-2 Coastal): The Eagles hadn’t lost since mid-March (5-0-1 since) before Wednesday’s 1-0 tumble to the Falcons. While Landstown’s offense has been average of late, the defense has carried the load, allowing just four goals in 11 games with seven shutout wins.

Kellam (7-1-3, 0-0-1 Coastal): After consecutive 1-1 ties against Landstown and Gloucester, the Knights get the pleasure of facing First Colonial (Friday, weather permitting) and Ocean Lakes (Tuesday). Those two tests will set the tone for the rest of conference play and could go long way toward determining the final spots for the Coastal tournament.

Princess Anne (5-6, 2-0 Atlantic): The Cavaliers have opened Atlantic Conference play with consecutive wins against Maury (1-0) and Norview (6-1). Princess Anne’s defense has stiffened, allowing just five goals in the past six games, compared with 13 in the first five.
