
Gov. Terry McAuliffe has issued a fresh set of appointments to state boards, commissions and positions, with locals from Williamsburg and Toano selected to serve.
Katherine Egner Gruber and Megan H. Rhyne of Williamsburg, along with Jay Gaidmore of Toano, have been named to the State Historical Records Advisory Board.
The board advises the state on matters pertaining to historical records, considers the condition and needs of state historical records, reviews records and proposals from state institutions and makes recommendations to the National Historical Publications and Records Commissions.
It is also tasked with promoting and supporting policies and practices across the state that ensure valuable state records are both preserved and accessible.
Cindy Rudy of Williamsubrg has been named to the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities.
The board is responsible for allocating federal money it receives toward services for people with disabilities. It is also responsible for advising the governor’s office, legislators, stage agencies and other groups about issues pertaining to people with disabilities.
It offers outreach services, training, technical assistance and more to help people with disabilities.
Charles Gressard of Williamsburg has been named to the Board of Counseling. The board provides oversight for people who act as counselors throughout the commonwealth.
Patrick G. Duffeler II has been named to the Virginia Wine Board. Duffeler is the present and CEO of the Williamsburg Winery. The board exists to promote the interests of wineries and and vineyards in Virginia.
