Ring in the holiday season next weekend with a race that works to bring joy to children at Christmas.
Busch Gardens’ Christmas Town Dash returns Dec. 7. Participants will run through the park’s winter extravaganza, which opened for its sixth season Nov. 21.
The event includes an 8k that winds through the Christmas Town’s 8 million lights, along with the Running of the Chick-fil-A Cows, a children’s fun run presented by the race sponsors and including its mascots.
Boosting the Christmas spirit will be hot chocolate and music for runners.
To spread the holiday cheer, organizers challenge each participant to bring two new, unwrapped toys to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Anyone who brings two gifts will receive a special prize of their own, with the toys going to children in need.
In addition to medals and long-sleeved running shirts, runners will receive 50-percent- off coupons for a single-day ticket Christmas Town, and 50-percent-off coupons toward single-day admission to Busch Gardens for the 2015 season.
Registration for the 8k is $50, which increases to $55 on Monday, while the Fun Run costs $10. Pre-registration is required. Click here to register online.
Admission to Christmas Town is not included in registration.
Event parking opens at 6 a.m. Sunday, with warm-ups starting at 7:30 a.m. The fun run will be at 8 a.m. followed by the 8k at 8:30 a.m. and an awards ceremony at 10 a.m.
