Two Hampton Roads companies are teaming up to offer a series of seminars on 21st-century marketing and leadership.
The program will be offered by creative marketing firm Proximo Marketing Strategies, based in James City County, and Newport News’ Premier Rapport, which offers leadership training.
The first session, planned for Dec. 2, will look at online professional networking site LinkedIn.
“We’ve had a lot of people ask us to teach a workshop on LinkedIn, but we didn’t want to just do another seminar on social media,” said Courtney Buzzell of Proximo Marketing Strategies in a news release. “By teaming up with Premier Rapport, we are able to share not only the what’s and the how to’s, but the underlying reasons why LinkedIn is important and how, if used properly, it can strengthen your personal brand and yourself as a leader.”
Shelley Smith of Premier Rapport said in the release she has used LinkedIn, which was launched in 2003, to make connections and establish herself as a leader in the industry.
“LinkedIn makes it easy to target specific prospects and request an introduction to them from mutual connections, among other things,” she said.
The seminar will start at 8 a.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott in McLaws Circle. The cost is $49 per person, which includes a continental breakfast.

More seminars are being planned, but not yet announced.
