Peter Firstbrook to Present Talk on John Smith

JS 209C-YVC_288&209CAn author and documentary filmmaker will speak next week at Jametown Settlement on the exploits and accomplishments of John Smith.

Peter Firstbrook wrote the new book “A Man Most Driven,” which describes Smith’s role in the survival of the Jamestown colony. His talk is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Robins Foundation Theater.

An award-winning filmmaker, Firstbrook spent 25 years as a BBC television producer, director and executive producer, specializing in historical documentaries. He is also the author of “The Voyage of Matthew” about the explorer John Cabot, “Lost on Everest” about George Mallory and “The Obamas: The Untold Story of an African Family.”

Firstbrook will sign books before and after his lecture.

The event is included in admission to Jamestown Settlement, which is $16 for those over age 12 and $7.50 for children ages 6 to 12. With proof of residency, entrance is free for residents of the James City County, York County and the City of Williamsburg, including College of William & Mary students.
