Get Moving
Explore the scenery of York River State Park on a photography hike Saturday morning. Starting at 8 a.m., the ranger/photographer-guided hike is open to all skill levels and types of camera for a look at wildlife and landscapes.
Try your hand at pickleball at the Williamsburg Fall Classic Pickleball Tournament on Saturday. The tournament is open to adults at all skill levels, and starts at 8:30 a.m. at Jamestown High School. There is a rain date scheduled for Sunday.
The Beyond Boobs! Run for the Hills 10k race and 1-mile fun run steps off Saturday morning from the Warhill Sports Complex. Read more about the race in the Hometown section.
Fall Festivals
Head to New Town on Saturday afternoon for unlimited chili and the chance to jam out to a Journey tribute band. Chili N’ Tunes features a number of local restaurants offering chili from 4 to 7 p.m. in Legacy Hall, followed by Trial by Fire at 7:30 p.m.
The Williamsburg Pottery will hold its annual Harvest Festival this weekend with music and a slew of pumpkin-themed activities, starting with a pumpkin pie tasting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Events continue 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, with food and wine tastings starting at 4 p.m., and from 11 a.m. to an awards presentation at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Explore History
Celebrate National Family History Month on Saturday and learn about new ways to study ancestry through mobile devices. The Williamsburg Family History Center will host “FamilySearch Goes Mobile” with consultation and training.
Military History Weekend 2014 arrives Saturday at the Holiday Inn Patriot, bringing a wide range of vendors, re-enactors and vintage military vehicles. Free activities for children include model building, painting toy soldiers and recruit training. Events run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Costumed actors will present the 11th annual re-enactment of the Yorktown Tea Party of 1774 on Sunday at the Riverwalk Landing Stage in Historic Yorktown. The protest was a smaller version of the Boston Tea Party. The Fifes and Drums of York Town will perform at 12:45 p.m., and the Tea Party starts at 1 p.m.
Tribe Athletics
Tribe Women’s Soccer takes on Delaware on Friday night. They take the field against the Blue Hens at 7 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium. The team returns Sunday to play against Drexel at 2 p.m.
Music
Weather permitting, hear live tunes from the outdoor stage at at Berret’s Taphouse Grill this weekend. The Hark will be performing Friday night and Stone’s Throw will play on Saturday. Both start at 7 p.m.
The Watermen’s Museum will host the Boathouse Blues Concert at 6 p.m. Friday, featuring Planet of Blues playing a mix of original blues and covers. There will be blue crabs, blue cheesecake and blue beer for sale at the event to benefit the museum.
