Bacon Street has a new leader for its philanthropic endeavors.
The nonprofit youth substance abuse center announced the addition of Alyson Wright to its staff. As director of development, she will handle all fundraising activities for Bacon Street, which was founded in 1971.
Wright previously held a development position with Western Tidewater Free Clinic in Isle of Wight. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from George Washington University.

Bacon Street provides services to youth and their families affected by substance abuse and well as mental health issues. More than 15,000 families have received assistance from the center.
