A design firm chipped in Monday at the Warhill Sports Complex as part of a company-wide day of service.

More than 5,500 employees volunteered across the globe as part of Stantec in the Community Day.

Locally, workers spent the day cleaning up along the nature trail, weeding the inside of batting cages and constructing a fence. Stantec staff also GPS-mapped the trail location so a map can be created for park visitor use.

Nearly all of the 50-person office participated in the volunteer event.

“Giving back to our communities in this way is extremely gratifying,” said Stantec’s Ron Boyd, a regular visitor to park as a local sport coach, in a news release.

“As a member of this community, I can see firsthand the kinds of improvements we can all make together. And to know that my colleagues were doing the same thing across the company, at the same time, is inspiring,” he said.
