WawaLogoFor positive customer feedback, the Wawa at 315 Richmond Road in Williamsburg was named a 5-Star Store.

As part of the company’s 50th anniversary year, it selected 38 stores, the top two in each of the chain’s regions. Founded in 1803 in New Jersey, Wawa now has more than 650 locations in the mid-Atlantic area, Virginia, Pennsylvania and central Florida.

To qualify for the 5-Star award, the Williamsburg establishment collected at least 50 surveys per month from shoppers and received high marks in overall satisfaction.

In return, representatives from the Wawa corporation visited the store Thursday to give customers prizes and giftcards. Store workers were recognized, and Wawa gave away free coffee to guests throughout the day.

“This year has been filled with exciting milestones and surpassed our wildest dreams. We’re excited to feature and recognize the stores that have truly paved and continue to pave our Wawa Way,” said Chris Gheysens, Wawa’s president and CEO, in a news release.

The Wawa Foundation also made a donation of $1,000 to VCU Massey Cancer Center in honor of the store team.

Wawa recorded the visit to include in “SmilestoneWawamentary,” an upcoming documentary that are creating to highlight their relationship with customers.
