November’s Blue Talon Turkey Trot raised $15,000 for Avalon: A Center for Women and Children. Avalon provides shelter and support to those experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault in the Greater Williamsburg area.

Last year’s Thanksgiving 5k race had more than 3,000 runners, walkers and volunteers.

In addition to raising money for the organization in 2013, Blue Talon owners David Everett and Kathryn Tawes have chosen Avalon as the beneficiary for the 2014 and 2015 races, as well.

Robin Paradee and her business partner Colleen Pilon conduct the sale twice annually, and have provided donations to a number of area charitable organizations.
