Hometown: Shamrock the ‘Burg Supports Local Charities with Irish Flair

shamrockGet in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit Saturday.

The annual festivity, Shamrock the ‘Burg, returns to the Williamsburg Community Building with food and drink, live music and perhaps, the luck of the Irish.

Formerly “Shamrock the Block,” the event is presented by the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg. Kiwanis is a global organization that focuses on improving the lives of children. The local club supports family clubs and programs, and is one of the largest in its district with more than 170 members.

The party starts at 6 p.m., with music provided by Glasgow Kiss from Virginia Beach. The trio will perform traditional and modern Celtic tunes.

Tickets are $10 each, and only available for those 21 and older. The Williamsburg Community Building is at 401 N. Boundary St. in the city.

Proceeds from the event benefit Avalon, Bacon Street and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

There will be wine and beer, including Guinness Draught, and Irish stew all available for purchase. Drink tickets are $5 for alcoholic beverages and $2 for soda and water.

WYDaily is one of the sponsors of Shamrock the ‘Burg. A select number of tickets are available from the Save30 store, run by WYDaily’s parent company Local Voice Media.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased online. For more information, visit the Shamrock the ‘Burg Facebook page or email [email protected].
