On Thanksgiving Day, pre-emptively burn off some calories with Blue Talon Bistro’s annual 5k race.
The restaurant’s race will wind through downtown Colonial Williamsburg and the campus of William & Mary on Thursday. The 5k begins at 8:30 a.m. in Merchant Square, and a kids 1-mile run starts at 9:30 a.m.
There will be an awards ceremony afterward at 10 a.m. in the parking lot behind Blue Talon Bistro. Awards will be given to the top three male and female walkers and runners in each group and overall.
At the ceremony, participants can enjoy Blue Talon croissants and other post-race refreshments, and participate in a raffle for gourmet food and wine.
More than 1,700 people are currently registered for the event. Online registration is available but will close at noon Tuesday. Registration on race day begins at 7 a.m.
The cost for the 5k is $35 until Wednesday and $40 on race day. The 1-mile Kids Fun Run costs $15.
Chronotrack B-tag, a disposal tracking system, will be timing the race. Timing chips can be picked up early along with race packets Wednesday at the Day’s Inn at 902 Richmond Road.
The Turkey Trot will benefit Avalon: A Center for Women and Children.
