Event: Reading Between the Wines
Date: October 9th, 6:00PM – 8:30PM
Location: William & Mary School of Education Building
Event Information:
Support Literacy for Life and enjoy an evening of scrumptious food, delicious wine, and live/silent auctions. During the Reading Between the Wines event, semi-retired general surgeon Dr. Rennie Howard will speak about his first novel, Bayou Cocktail. Dr. Howard grew up in Louisiana and now lives and practices in Williamsburg.
All event proceeds will directly benefit Literacy for Life, a nonprofit organization committed to transforming the lives of adults in our community by improving their literacy skills. Literacy for Life is the only organization in the Greater Williamsburg area that provides one-to-one tutoring for adults in reading, writing, math, health literacy and English as a second language. With the help of nearly 300 community volunteers, Literacy for Life improves the literacy skills of more than 500 learners each year. Literacy for Life also helps learners set and reach personal goals, such as understanding prescription instructions, helping a child with his homework, obtaining U.S. citizenship, or applying for a better job.
