Lots of artistic and outdoor activities are going on this week which you don’t want to miss. Among them are a $15 concert from a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, a free concert from Super Jazz Band featuring Conni Mann and a tour of the 1607 fort at Jamestowne where you’re encouraged to bring your dog.

Arts Happenings
The Williamsburg Regional Library’s Thursday Afternoon Film Series is back with “The Corn is Green,” a 1945 classic about a schoolteacher in a poor mining town. Want to know what it’s about? Look at the calendar listing for information on the film and what time you can catch the screening.
Arts Month continues with a bike parade for the Williamsburg Art District at the Field next to the Days Inn at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The free event will have kids activities, live music from Whiskey Rose and the Hark, BBQ, beer and wine. Get more information here.
The next iteration of “Rhythms on the Riverwalk” runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Yorktown’s Riverwalk Landing. This week you can catch Super Jazz Band featuring Conni Mann in a free performance. Make sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Check out the calendar listing for more information.
Kenny Loggins will play a show Friday at Christopher Newport University’s Ferguson Center for the Arts. Tickets start at $47 for the star performer, who has had 12 albums go platinum. You can also catch music from his new band, Blue Sky Riders, who will open the show with music from their debut album. The calendar listing has more details.
You can also catch a Jimmy Buffett tribute band from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Matoaka Amphitheater. Tickets are $15 at the door. You’re encouraged to bring beach chairs and blankets. Food, wine and beer will be for sale, however no outside food or beverages will be allowed. The proceeds benefit the Providing Indoor Plumbing for Everyone project.

Outdoor Activities
Bring your dog to Historic Jamestowne for a dog-walking tour at 5 p.m. Thursday. On the tour you’ll learn all about archaeology efforts at the 1607 fort site. Tickets are $15 per person, and you’re free to bring up to two dogs. To learn how to sign up, check out the calendar entry.
The Fore Larry Walk to End Alzheimer’s team will host a yard sale at 8 a.m. Saturday in Yorktown. Money raised at the yard sale will go to the Alzheimer’s Association. If you want to donate items, bring them by 300 Blevins Run on Friday and Saturday. You can get more information here.
Yorktown Market Days continues with fresh produce, meat and seafood, baked goods, coffee, specialty cut flowers, art, entertainment and more. The free event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown.
The Williamsburg Pottery will feature fresh local produce and other items at their farmer’s market beginning 9 a.m. Saturday. Seasonal fruits and vegetables will be offered for sale. The calendar entry has more information.

The Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg will hold its 34th annual Shrimp Fest at the Jamestown 4-H Center from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $30 for adults and $15 for children, getting you unlimited shrimp, plus hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and more. You can buy tickets by clicking here. You can get a firsthand view of wetlands and river at York River State Park on a canoe and kayak trip through Taskinas Creek and the York River at 4 p.m. Sunday. Come see former U.S. Representative, Senator and Virginia Governor George Allen and others in a free panel event concerning the importance of civic participation at the state and community level. You’ll get information on the importance of being engaged as well as potential reasons for a decline in civic engagement in recent years. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Williamsburg Regional Library.
Unity Fellowship Church is holding an interfaith celebration focusing on peace, abundance, healing and love both individually and globally. Come pray with your fellow citizens at 7 p.m. Thursday. You can find the address of the church and more information here.
