Hometown: American Pride Auto to Offer Free Car Services at Family Service Day

American Pride Automotive will be hosting its next Family Service Day on Aug. 3 at its Williamsburg location to help families with few resources that need auto services.

American Pride owner Charlie Marcotte came up with the idea for Family Service Day in 2009 as a way to offer free car repair and maintenance services and helpful car maintenance tips to people in the community who don’t have the resources to take proper care of their cars. The auto shop staff volunteer their time to do the work.

Marcotte has helped expand the idea for the volunteer event to car shops in other states, and he is working on getting a national corporate sponsor. Last Fall, Marcotte as honored by Virginia’s First Lady Maureen McDonnell with a First Lady’s Opportunity Seal of Approval award for his efforts with Family Service Day.

Grove Christian Outreach Center is a partner for the Aug. 3 event, which is sponsored by The Colony Group and 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union.

Locations for Service Day shift between the shop’s different locations; the upcoming one will be held at the Williamsburg location. Make an appointment by calling (757) 595-4100 or make an appointment online. Read more about Family Service Day on the American Pride Automotive website.
