Boy Scout Troop 103, sponsored by Williamsburg United Methodist Church, held its annual awards ceremony earlier this month at the church on Jamestown Road.
Special recognition was given to Llywellyn S. Lewis of Williamsburg, who received the Troop 103 Alumni Hall of Fame Award. Lewis was a boy scout in Troop 103 during the 1940s and 1950s.
Other honorees included:
- Tim Mills, who received the Landis-Morrell-Gates Award. This is for the outstanding scout in the Troop who shows leadership, service, outdoorsman, and scout spirit.
- Will Friedrichs, who received the David Nunn Camping Award, given to a scout who shows the most camping and outdoor skills, attends camping trips, teaches camping and woods skill to others and seeks to make camping a more enjoyable and fun experience for himself and others.
- Chris Monahan and Samuel Robles shared the Sandy Kelly Leadership Award, which is presented to scouts demonstrating exceptional leadership throughout the year.
- Jesse Nelson received the Don Parker Service Award, which is presented to scouts demonstrating the ideal of service to others.
- Brandon Roos McClinton received the Walker Mulligan Spirit Award, which is presented to the Scout that exhibits positive attitude towards scouting by embodying the Scout Oath and Law.
- Mitchell Sillery received both the Andrew Bridger Outlaw Nature Award and the John Brown High Adventure Award; the former is awarded for scouts demonstrating special abilities in the field of nature and the latter is presented to the Scout most active in Scouting’s High Adventure Program.
- Franklin West was awarded the James Fuller Scoutmaster Award, presented to an outstanding Scout between the rank of Scout and First Class based on attendance, advancement, enthusiasm, and scout spirit.
Troop 103 is chartered by Williamsburg United Methodist Church and has been in continuous existence since 1924.
