Various local organizations are hosting blood drives for the Red Cross this month.
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Donors can make an appointment to give blood by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or logging on to redcrossblood.org. Those interested can also call 623-4880 for more information about platelet donation. Platelets only have a shelf life of 5 days.
The following local blood drives will be held soon:
- April 10: Victory Family YMCA, 101 Long Green Boulevard, Yorktown; noon to 6 p.m.
- April 10: Mason School of Business, 101 Ukrop Way, Williamsburg; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- April 12: Ford’s Colony Swim & Tennis Club, 302 Saint Andrews Drive, Williamsburg; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- April 21: Temple Beth El, 600 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- April 24: Townebank, 5216 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- April 26: Bruster’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream and Yogurt, 5289 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg; 1 to 7 p.m. All donors will receive a free pint of ice cream at this drive, while supplies last.
