Child Development Resources (CDR) is looking for donations for its 35th Annual Bid ‘n Buy Auction that will be held in the spring.
CDR serves more than 1,000 local babies and toddlers each year – children with disabilities, developmental delay or who are at risk for delay – and the annual auction is one of its main fundraisers. CDR has hosted the auction for the past 34 years; last year’s event raised over $100,000.
“Together with our donors CDR works with families to create life-long change for their children and themselves,” said Director of Development Allison Brody in an email to CDR friends about the event.
Kate Hamaker, Development Associate in charge of special events, is collecting much needed auction items for both the silent and live auction.
Donors help CDR “provide funds for home visits, special therapies, developmental play groups, child care and more,” according to CDR’s January newsletter. “Please consider donating to the 35th Annual Bid ‘n Buy Auction.
“Your donation is tax deductible and will help CDR professionals and volunteers continue to assist and help babies and toddlers in our community.”
Popular items to donate include:
- Themed gift baskets
- Trips or excursions
- Home décor or home goods
- Toys
- New jewelry or clothing
- Gift cards or gift certificates
- Event tickets
- Sporting equipment
- Paintings, framed photography, or pottery
To have an item included in the CDR Bid ‘n Buy Auction catalog, donors must return a completed donor form by Feb. 8. CDR will accept donor forms after Feb. 8, but the items will not be listed in the printed catalog.
The donated items, objects or certificates need to be at the CDR office by March 10.
For more information or to request a donation form, contact Kate Hamaker at [email protected] or call 757-566-3300.
The auction will be held on Sunday, March 24, at The Williamsburg Hotel and Conference Center (formerly the Williamsburg Marriott, 50 Kingsmill Road).
