HISTORIC TRIANGLE— Goat Farm Sports (GFS), creators of the U.S. Army Bowl and Military Appreciation Bowl, hosted annually at the Dallas Cowboy’s Frisco facility, and featuring more than 4,000 top athletes and All-Americans, announced Williamsburg as the home of their national summer showcase July 14-21, 2026.
GFS said it is launching this summer event to complement its December Bowl Game. Williamsburg’s Warhill Memorial Sports Complex will serve as the main hub for the football events and competition.
Richard McGuinness, GFS Chairman, shared the news with the national football community, “There were many reasons why Williamsburg made perfect sense to us and our family of athletes, including its central location between Boston and Atlanta, the family-friendly community and the first-class venue and multi-field set-up provided in Warhill Sports Complex.”
McGuinness is no stranger to Williamsburg. At his former company, McGuinness oversaw a national football event that was hosted in Williamsburg annually. That event drew thousands of athletes from far off places like Hawaii who traveled and enjoyed the football experience.
“This decision was a no-brainer. We have a great event history in Williamsburg, they have a terrific support team who treat us and our customers wonderfully, and they upped their game with new sports infrastructure”, McGuinness stated. “During our first run, more than 100 NFL athletes competed in this summer showcase in Williamsburg as youth or high school athletes,” stated McGuinness. “This is the proving ground for American football and the can’t miss event of the summer.”
“Events like America’s Biggest Week in Football are exactly what sports tourism is all about—bringing athletes and families together for elite competition while experiencing everything a destination has to offer,” said Morgan Cordle, Sports Sales Manager for Visit Williamsburg. “We’re proud to welcome Goat Farm Sports and thousands of visitors to Williamsburg for a week that blends high-level football with a memorable travel experience.”
This summer, the National Showcase will feature top prep athletes from July 14-17, top middle school and youth athletes from July 17-19, and top female flag athletes from July 15-17.
More than 40 NFL coaches and national college scouts will be on hand to follow and report on the action. Top performers will be selected as “All-Americans” and compete in Frisco at Military Appreciation Bowl Week in December 2026.
