WILLIAMSBURG — Fans of the Army Black Knights and the Navy Midshipmen gathered together at Revolution Golf and Grille on Dec. 13 for a watch party of the 126th annual Army-Navy football game.
The rivalry between Army and Navy is known to be one of the best in college sports. Each year, the two service academies go head-to-head during the last week of the college football season. It is also one of the highest-viewed sports games throughout the year.
During the watch party, members of the West Point Society of Williamsburg, The Tidewater Chapter of Heroes on the Water, and the Virginia Peninsula Chapter of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association gathered together to celebrate the storied rivalry.
The Navy Midshipmen, led by third-year head coach Brian Newberry, put together a strong 2025 season with a 9–2 record and a 7–1 mark in the American Athletic Conference. The year featured key wins over Air Force and Temple, with the only losses coming against North Texas and Notre Dame. Navy earned a bowl game appearance and will face off against Cincinnati in the Liberty Bowl.
The Army Black Knights, led by head coach Jeff Monken, finished the 2025 regular season 6–5 and 4–4 in the American Conference, powered by a trademark triple-option offense and a tough, disciplined defense. Key wins, including a last-second victory over Air Force, secured bowl eligibility, and Army will head to the Wasabi Fenway Bowl to face UConn.
With both teams beating the U.S. Air Force Academy, the coveted Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy was on the line. The winner of both the Air Force game and Army-Navy game earns the trophy each year. Navy currently holds the most wins with a record of 63-55.
While Army played a hard-fought game, Navy ultimately got the win with a final score of 17-16.
