Photo Gallery: Norfolk Admirals Rebrand as Yorktown Admirals for City Series Game

NORFOLK— The Norfolk Admirals rebranded as the Yorktown Admirals as part of the City Series Initiative on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Announced in late 2024, the initiative was launched as a way to bring Hampton Roads together. The series is designed to extend the game of hockey beyond where the team is based.

On Feb. 22, the Norfolk Scope was transformed to show off all things Yorktown. The York County Office of Fire and Life Safety brought a fire engine and chief’s truck, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office handed out stickers to kids and presented the colors for the playing of the National Anthem, and the Yorktown Fife and Drum Corps entertained guests before and during the game. Bella Vocce, an all female choir of York County School Division students, sang “God Bless America” during the game.

The ceremonial puck drop was performed by Kim Goodwin, Chair of the York County School Division, and Sheila Noll, Chair of the York County Board of Supervisors.

Yorktown Admirals merchandise was also for sale, including replica jerseys.

The Admirals faced off against the Maine Mariners for the sold-out contest, which ended in a 4-0 shutout win for the home team.
