WILLIAMSBURG — With the season opener less than two weeks away, three William & Mary men’s gymnastics standouts were selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Preseason Gymnasts to Watch List. Graduate student Sam Lee, senior Will Harrington and junior Ricky Pizem garnered the distinction.

The league’s preseason poll was also announced, and the Tribe is predicted to finish fourth by a vote of the conference’s six head coaches. Navy garnered the top spot and was followed by Greenville, Army, W&M, Springfield and Simpson.

One of the nation’s top gymnasts last season, Lee earned USA Gymnastics Collegiate All-America honors on vault after tying for third at the championship meet. Additionally, he placed second on parallel bars at the ECAC Championship and competed in the NCAA finals on the apparatus.

Harrington enters his senior season as one of the Tribe’s top performers on floor and has been a NCAA Championships individual qualifier in the event each of the last three seasons. Additionally, he has qualified for the national meet as an individual on bars multiple times, as well as on vault and high bar.

Pizem emerged as one of the country’s top performers on high bar last season and earned USA Gymnastics Collegiate All-America honors after placing fifth at the national championship meet. Additionally, he finished second in the event at the ECAC Championship and has been an NCAA Championships individual qualifier on vault and high bar each of the last two seasons.

W&M will open its season at the West Point Open on Jan. 10-11.
