WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary women’s basketball head coach Erin Dickerson Davis announced the addition of two transfers to the 2024-25 roster on Thursday.
Tika Sallman, a 6-foot-3 post player, and Aislinn (pronounced Ashlynn) Gibson, a 6-foot-2 wing, will join the Tribe next season by way of Memphis and Maine respectively.
Tika Sallman
Sophomore | 6’3 | Post
Cairo, Egypt | Western Reserve Academy/Memphis
Sallman, who recently completed her freshman year with the Memphis Tigers, averaged over 10 points per game for the U16 and U18 Egyptian National Teams in both the 2021 and 2023 Women’s African Championships. She also represented Egypt in the 2022 U17 and 2023 U19 FIBA World Cup, averaging a career best 11.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per outing.
The Cairo native appeared in 15 games off the bench in her lone season at Memphis. Sallman posted seven points and four rebounds in her second collegiate game against Alabama State, while her best performance of the season came against Middle Tennessee with seven points, four blocks and a season-high 10 boards.
Prior to Memphis, Sallman attended Western Reserve Academy in Ohio where she finished her career averaging 11 points and just under 10 rebounds per game.
Davis on Sallman
“Tika comes to us after one year at the University of Memphis. She’s 6-foot-3 and brings some experience and size to our post position. Tika not only gained experience in her year with Memphis, but she also goes back to Egypt every summer to play with her National Team which provides a level of physicality and toughness that will be necessary to compete in this league. We are so happy to have her!”
Aislinn Gibson
Sophomore | 6’2 | Wing
Hingham, Mass. | Tilton School/Maine
Gibson arrives to Williamsburg after appearing in the NCAA Tournament with Maine, who won the America East conference title, where she played in three games off the bench as a freshman.
The Hingham, Mass. native averaged 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.5 steals per game at the Tilton School prior to playing at Maine. Gibson racked up over 1000 boards, 500 assists and 500 steals in her Tilton career while helping the squad to a NEPSAC Class A Championship in 2020, back-to-back Lakes Region titles in 2021 and 2022, and an appearance in the NEPSAC AA title game in 2022.
Gibson shot 46% from the floor and 40% from behind the arc in her career at Tilton, while being named a Lake Region All-Star and Academic Honor Roll selection in 2021-22.
Davis on Gibson
“Aislinn comes to us after one year at the University of Maine. What I love about Aislinn is that she played on championship teams in both high school and in college. She brings great size to the perimeter at 6-foot-2 and can be a consistent 3 level scorer as she develops in her career. Aislinn brings the energy and winning mindset that we need as we continue to build our culture. We can’t wait to get her on campus this summer!”
The additions of Sallman and Gibson gives the Tribe a total of six newcomers to compliment eight returners this upcoming season.
W&M is coming off a year in which they finished 12-6 in CAA play for the second consecutive year, tying the program record for conference wins in a season. Davis, who is entering her third season, has guided the Tribe to a top-five finish in the conference in her first two years and became the quickest coach to 20 conference wins in program history, accomplishing the feat in 29 games.
