RICHMOND — After posting tremendous campaigns, William & Mary lacrosse standouts Paige Gilbert and Finley Hoffman earned postseason all-conference honors by the Coastal Athletic Association.
Gilbert garnered second-team distinction as a midfielder, while Hoffman, also a midfielder, was selected to the all-rookie team.
One of the CAA’s most outstanding players, Gilbert led W&M in goals (34) and points (37), while she ranked second in draw controls (53) – an impressive total that ranks eighth on the Tribe’s single-season list. The Doylestown, Pa., native also totaled 21 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
In addition to posting 10 double-digit goal performances this season, she registered four hat tricks — highlighted by six-goal efforts in the win against ECU and at Monmouth. Also highlighting her list of impressive efforts was the season finale at Campbell in which she tallied five goals with a career-high seven draw controls.
Hoffman made an immediate impact as a freshman and started nine games for the Tribe. In addition to totaling 13 points (11g, 2a), she also registered 12 ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers.
The Wynnewood, Pa., native posted three multi-goal games, two of which helped propel W&M to victories against George Washington and Longwood.
