W&M Lax Falls to Drexel on Senior Day

WILLIAMSBURG — The William & Mary lacrosse team fell to Drexel, 16-6, on Senior Day at Martin Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Although W&M (4-12, 0-7) and DU both scored six goals apiece during the second half, the Tribe was unable to overcome a 10-goal halftime deficit.

After Drexel (11-4, 6-1) opened the second half with a score, the Tribe utilized a 5-1 run to narrow the margin to 12-5 early in the fourth quarter. However, the Dragons registered four of the final five goals to secure the conference road victory.

Tribe Standouts
Maresa Moyer led the Tribe with a goal and a career-high four draw controls, while Ainsley Huizenga also found the back of the cage and added three draw controls.

Kate Draddy also came up big and totaled four ground balls and three draw controls, while Courtney Vasquenza posted three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Inside the Numbers
Drexel outshot W&M, 32-19, which included a 22-14 margin in attempts on goal.

Both teams tallied 22 ground balls, while the Dragons secured three more draws, 14-11.

W&M committed one fewer turnover, 18-19.

The Opposition
Corinne Bednarik led Drexel with four points (3g, 1a) and three draw controls, while Allison Drake (3g, 1a) and Alex Wall (3g) also recorded hat tricks.

Defensively, goalie Jenika Cuocco allowed just five goals and posted a .555 save percentage in 45 minutes of action, while Camryn Ryan totaled three caused turnovers, three ground balls and three draw controls.

W&M will return to action when it concludes its season at Campbell next Saturday at noon.
