Adam Sanders went 3-for-4 with 6 RBIs today as Grafton blew past York 12-2 on the road.
The game was resumed this morning after rain Friday forced a postponement in the second inning.
DJ Dobbins opened the scoring for Grafton in the top of the first inning with a two-run triple. Sanders followed with an an RBI groundout that scored Dobbins to give the Clippers a 3-0 lead.
After Grafton added a run in the top of the second inning, Sanders stepped to the plate in the top of the third and belted a solo home run that put Grafton up 5-0.
In the top of the fourth inning, Sanders smacked a two-run single into right field. The single was followed by an RBI double from Chase Hoepfner.
York’s lone runs came in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the Falcons scored on a fielding error and a Dylan Dye RBI single.
Grafton scored three more times in the top of the fifth inning, stretching the lead to 12-2 and ending the game because of the Virginia High School League’s 10-run rule.
Grafton (5-11) will host Jamestown on Monday. York (10-6) will visit Smithfield on Monday.
