Grafton’s offense and pitching clicked on the same night, leading to a commanding 10-1 win at home over New Kent.

Clippers starting pitcher Joey Majowitz threw a complete game six-hitter, striking out three batters and allowing just one run, which came on a first-inning solo home run.

After the early home run, Grafton settled down and dominated the rest of the game.

Leading the Grafton offense was D.J. Dobbins and Justin Bowers, each of whom went 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Chaz Hoepfner went 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs, while Majowitz also drove in a pair of runs.

Grafton (1-3) will host Lafayette on Tuesday.

Klyman Throws No-Hitter Against Tabb

Jamestown starting pitcher Kent Klyman threw a five-inning no-hitter Thursday, lifting Jamestown to a 10-0 road win against Tabb.

Klyman struck out four batters and walked another batter during the no-hit performance. He also went 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate.

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning before blowing the game open with a five-run third inning.

Two runs in the top of the fifth inning put the game out of reach and ended the contest because of the Virginia High School League’s 10-run rule.

Jamestown (2-1) will host Hickory on Tuesday, while Tabb (2-2) will try to rebound Monday at home against Denbigh.
