Lafayette spoiled Bruton’s Senior Night during an intense straight-set 25-22, 27-25, 25-23 victory Tuesday evening.

“That was one of those games I thought we were pretty evenly matched,” Bruton Coach Kevin Doloresco said.

Because of Senior Night, Doloresco allowed his seniors to play a big role in the match regardless of their usual roles in the rotation.

Despite an unusual rotation, Bruton was able to hang with Lafayette’s starters for most of the match. After dropping the first set by three points, Bruton rebounded in the second set and held a five-point lead.

Lafayette overcame the deficit and took the second set 27-25. The third set was equally competitive, with Lafayette coming out on top again by two points for the match victory.

The Rams (10-9) will conclude their regular season at home against New Kent on Thursday, while Bruton (5-14) will finish the regular season on the road against Warhill on Thursday.
