Lafayette remains third in Group 4A East in the latest Virginia High School League football rankings released Monday.

The Rams (7-0) are currently one of two undefeated teams remaining in Group 4A East, with Lake Taylor also sitting at a perfect 7-0. Lafayette, which is coming off a statement win against Poquoson, gained significant ground on second-place Courtland.

Lafayette had a rating of 26 last week compared to Courtland’s rating of 27.3. Lafayette’s rating jumped to 28 this week, while Courtland moved to 28.1.

Also in Group 4A East, Grafton (4-3) dropped from ninth place to 12th place after being shut out by Warhill last week. Grafton’s overall rating fell to 21 from 22.5.

Jamestown (1-5), which snapped a 17-game losing streak on Friday with a win against Bruton, is unranked in this week’s poll. Jamestown’s rating increased from 14 to 16 with the win.

In Group 3A East, York (5-2) held steady in fifth place after edging Tabb by six points Friday. York increased its rating from 20.8 to 22.1 with the win over the Tigers, who were ranked 11th in Group 3A East last week.

The loss to York dropped Tabb (3-4) down to 15th place with a rating of 17.7. Despite their drop in the rankings, Tabb’s rating dipped slightly from last week’s 17.8.

After earning its first win of the season last week, Warhill (1-5) saw its rating improve significantly from 13.2 to 16.5. The Lions also jumped from 23 in the Group 3A East rankings to 19 this week.

In Group 2A East, Bruton’s (1-6) rating improved slightly from 14.3 to 14.4 despite losing to Jamestown. A significantly smaller school than Jamestown, Bruton still received points for playing a higher classification team in a district game.

The Panthers dropped in the rankings because of the loss, however. After sitting in 15th place last week, Bruton is now ranked 18th in its region.
